San Francisco Solar Map Website Launched

solarmap San Francisco Solar Map Website Launched

The San Francisco Solar Map website was launched today providing a great resource for residents of San Francisco. The collaborative effort of the City of San Francisco and CH2M Hill portal allows for building owners to see the potential environmental benefits as well as the costs and cost reductions involved with installing solar panels. By typing in a San Francisco residential or commercial address, the website pulls up the location using Google Maps and shows you the roof size, estimated solar PV potential, estimated electricity produced, estimated electricity savings, estimated carbon savings, and detailed estimates and solar installers for your area. You can also click on case studies and see information about current solar users on the map as well. This can be a very useful website for anyone interested in installing a solar panel for their home. Unfortunately, I neither live in San Francisco or own my residence but if I did, this would definitely encourage me to install a solar panel. Hopefully, other cities can follow this path in promoting solar energy to its residents and businesses.
